Every tax filing season hundreds of local volunteers help low-to-moderate income individuals prepare and e-file their taxes at no cost to them.
This IRS initiative, known as the Volunteer Income Tax Initiative (VITA), is spearheaded locally by Community Link.
You will be helping people access refunds to provide much-needed relief and achieve goals like reducing debt, establishing a savings fund, and covering general household, educational, or medical expenses.
What you will be doing:
You will receive training to certify as an IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA). Vita Volunteers prepare tax returns, at no cost, for hard working individuals and families with low to moderate income. If preparing taxes is not your ideal assignment we also need Greeters and Interpreters.
