History

Community Link has served North Carolina for more than 90 years. We are proud of the work we've accomplished, though there is still much to be done to combat the affordable housing and homelessness crises.

Below our some of the milestones since our incorporation. We hope to continue to serve the most vulnerable in our community for years to come.

1929:

Incorporated as an all-volunteer “Travelers Aid Agency”

1950s:

Shifted services to resettlement

1980s:

Expanded to permanent rental housing

1995:

Renamed and rebranded to “Community Link”

2000s:

Expanded services outside of Mecklenburg County

2002:

Floyd R. Davis, Jr. hired as President/CEO, as one of the first African Americans in Charlotte in a leadership role at a nonprofit 

2004:

Added homeownership program & financial literacy programs

2005:

Initiated Free Tax Preparation Services

2010:

Provided Single Family Rehabilitation Services (ended in 2017)

2012:

Started providing Foreclosure Services

2019:

Refreshed Brand Identity
