Spring is in the air and Mother’s Day is right around the corner. You may be thinking about how to honor or remember Mom for Mother’s Day in a meaningful way. What would it mean to your mom to know she’s helping other mothers for Mother’s Day? Every day, Community Link help mothers find safe, decent, affordable housing for their families. About 75% of our customers are single moms. The reasons are complex, but it’s fair to say few ever planned to be single while raising a family. The Hayes family is one of our customers.

Ms. Hayes is a single mother who was referred to Community Link by a domestic violence shelter. She has two young children ages 2 and 8 years old. Mom works at a local fast food chain, but doesn’t make enough to support her family by herself. Rent continues to sky rocket while wages remain the same. The family needs a safe environment that is unknown to their former abuser, a home equipped with a working AC unit, and a home that has a working washer and dryer.

The rising cost of rent is forcing families to put aside some needs, like a working AC unit or a washer and dryer, to have a roof over their heads. Our staff are working to find safe, decent and affordable housing for the Hayes family. We help strong women find safe harbor and a fresh start. But we can’t do it without your support.
