In the springtime of 2020, Ms. Loftin endured some unexpected housing changes and became homeless with her family. She had to move from her rental unit because the property provider sold the property without giving her any notice. Now, Ms. Loftin. faced being at-risk of losing her children if she did not locate housing soon.

Thankfully, she was referred to Community Link and qualified for our Back at Home program in May with the help of her caseworker at the Cabarrus County Department of Human Services.

With the guidance and assistance of her caseworker at Community Link, and her prevention caseworker at DSS, we ensured that she obtained stable housing. Ms. Loftin is the mother of 6children, one of whom has a learning disability, she overcame the significant housing barrier of having a large family.

She currently resides in Kannapolis and is the first customer to be housed through Back at Home, our program serving Cabarrus, Stanly and Davidson counties. Ms. Loftin’s experience is a true testament to the teamwork of both agencies working together to ensure the stability of a family in need.

Housing is the basis of all our lives. With stable housing, securing a job becomes a possibility for customers like Ms. Loftin.
